The Principals
PCG’s principals, Kala Kennedy Dow and Jim Van Laan, offer a breadth of knowledge and experience difficult to find elsewhere. From clinical systems to client accounting, from system management to foreign systems interfaces, from Cerner Classic to Cerner Millennium, whatever your needs PCG will most likely have the answer.
Kala has a B.A. degree in Computer Science from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. She spent nearly 6 years working for Cerner Corporation as a programmer/analyst where she gained in-depth knowledge of Cerner's charging, billing and management reporting products from both an engineering and support point-of-view. In the 10 years since leaving Cerner, Kala has been employed as an independent consultant assisting clients with all aspects of Cerner's products, including custom CCL programming and FSI work for both Classic and Millennium.
Jim graduated magna cum laude with honors from North Carolina Wesleyan College. He was a CCL programmer and system analyst on the “client-side” for 7 years at Duke University Medical Center and the Medical University of South Carolina. Since 1995, he has provided custom programming solutions as a consultant to the healthcare industry with a special emphasis on Cerner sites and CCL. He has taught Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced CCL classes to a number of Cerner clients, both on behalf of Cerner and independently of Cerner, and has consulted with over 100 Cerner clients.
