1. Midwest and Great Lakes RUG Presentation
We were recently invited to present "Pathways to Pathnet Millennium CCL" to the Midwest and Great Lakes RUG meeting in Milwaukee. This was a 2-hour presentation presenting the promises and perils of CCL programming in the Pathnet Millennium environment, including an overview of the primary tables used, the data linkages between tables, the tools available, and Millennium CCL techniques and tips. The presentation also highlighted the differences between CCL programming in the Classic environment with that necessary for the Millennium platform. In addition, the presentation reviewed some of the potential problems that may be encountered, such as inaccuracy of reported data, incompleteness of reported data, and negative impact on system performance.

2. Conversion of Pathnet Classic Client Billing and Outreach to Millennium
We have recently been hired to convert a Cerner client's system from Classic to Millennium. This site has a strong commitment to Client Billing and Outreach and, as such, poses a number of challenges that are slightly different than those of most sites. We are modifying the charging interface to the HIS system for client billing. In addition, we are writing a number of custom CCL programs to extract billing information for submission to a third-party billing system for their reference lab outreach work. We are also converting a number of their custom CCL programs to run in the Millennium environment as they ran in Classic.
3. HIPAA Compliance
We have recently been hired to bring a system’s EDI interface into HIPAA compliance. If any of you are using Client Accounting for insurance billing (whether you’re using Cerner’s EBI or not), you should consider talking with us. This is a complex issue with serious ramifications and non-compliance is not an option!
4. Classic Billing Files Re-Creation
Recently, we successfully re-created the entire billing process (laboratory, radiology, microbiology, anatomic pathology and blood bank – T03, EX1 and BFA) for a site that experienced a catastrophic event during its normal billing process. We can help you with billing recovery whether you are an HCA site or an EX1 site. We can also recover AD20 Charge Detail records and can recover “out-of-balance” accounts during the AD20 recovery. If you find yourself in similar or related situations, please remember to contact us.
5. Site Conversion
We have recently been engaged to extract and convert all Blood Bank and Anatomic Pathology data from a Cerner Classic site for importation into a Meditech system. If you are contemplating a conversion (whether it is to Cerner, Meditech or any other system), please contact us. Our knowledge and experience (not to mention our reasonable hourly rates) could significantly reduce the “pain” and the cost of the process.
6. Bio-Rad Laboratories Unity Data Extraction System
We have created a completely table-driven system for collecting and extracting quality control data for the Bio-Rad Unity system. The system (which is in the final stages of testing and validation) uses 2 custom SR tables that you create and maintain. Consequently, there is no complicated program code that must be modified and maintained. Change the table and the program responds accordingly. If you’re interested in seeing if this solution might work for you, please contact us.
And, of course, we’ve been busy developing custom programs that we haven’t had time to add to the program catalogs on this site. If you’re interested in finding out more about what we’ve been doing, give us a call. We’re always happy to talk about ourselves.
